Juvenile Review Board of Haddam-Killingworth
Youth & Family Services of Haddam-Killingworth, Inc. offers a program
called the Juvenile Review Board of Haddam-Killingworth (JRB). The
JRB is an alternative to the Juvenile Justice System. The main objective
of the JRB is to provide an alternative for juveniles (age 16 and under)
who are in conflict at home, in school, in the community, or are first-time
offenders of the law. As an alternative to going to Juvenile Court,
the juvenile’s case will be heard by the JRB. In a case where
the juvenile has broken the law, the board will require the juvenile to
accept consequences such as community service, restitution, etc. The
Board may also make recommendations in an attempt to resolve any conflict
that the juvenile has been experiencing. The diversion process is
entirely voluntary and the juvenile must admit to the behavior for which
they have been referred. The referral source (i.e., school, law
enforcement, parent or guardian) may refer cases (with the permission
of the parent or guardian) to the JRB by calling 860-345-7498. The
Board is a group of volunteers committed to helping families within the
Haddam and Killingworth community. Each board member is bound confidentiality
and is required to sign a confidentiality agreement. It includes
individuals from local schools, churches, social service agencies, law
enforcement, businesses, and juvenile probation. For more information
